Creation of Global CSO Partnership

In response to the emerging post-Busan architecture, and in order to better capitalize on the synergies and coordination between the two global CSO development effectiveness processes, Open Forum and BetterAid together with CSOs across the globe worked to establish a new Global CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE). This CSO initiative was the response to the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness and civil society’s significant role therein.
To establish this global CSO platform, BetterAid and Open Forum undertook a series of regional, sectoral and sub-regional consultations with the civil society sector, both to make sure the CPDE responds to the needs of the sector, and also to mobilize the civil society sector as CSOs move forward as equal partners in development.
The final meeting establishing the new mandate and structure of the new CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) took place on December 8-9 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya.
